Craig Dossey - President
Craig is a 3rd generation Colorado native growing up in Durango where he worked on his family farm, fished the San Juan river, and competed in a variety of sports. He has a diverse educational background including degrees in urban and regional planning, law, and English. Craig has over 20 years of planning experience and most recently served as the Planning Director for El Paso County where he lead the effort to draft two award-winning Master Plans. Craig joined the private sector with the goal of further utilizing his unique background, education, and experiences in order to have a greater impact within the community. Craig specializes in leading teams in the planning and development of large-scale projects, navigating complex regulations, and working through issues related to public policy and long-range planning.
Nina Dossey
Nina is a Senior Executive Consultant with Vertex. She has over 15 years of planning experience in both the public and private sectors. Nina specializes in project management including assembling and tracking the performance of multi-disciplinary project teams to optimize performance and reduce the overall design and entitlement timeline. She has extensive knowledge and experience interpreting and applying local land use regulations, leading the design and approval processes for a variety of small and large-scale development projects, and working hand-in-hand with individual property owners to make their dreams a reality. Raised in Colorado Springs, Nina enjoys hiking and fishing during her free time
David Parkerson
Originally from Okeechobee, Florida, David has built a career in the civil construction industry spanning over 17 years. His experience ranges from working in the field as a Paving Foreman to leading quality control efforts and later transitioning into public infrastructure inspection and management. David spent four years with the Orange County, Florida Public Works Department where he served as an Engineering Inspector, gaining invaluable experience in subdivision development, public infrastructure, and municipal standards. Then in 2018, David and his wife made the move to Colorado Springs to pursue additional opportunities in the construction management and inspections field.
David leads the horizontal construction management division at Vertex as a Construction Manager. David relies upon his varied private sector experiences, his time with Orange County, as well as six years with El Paso County as a Senior Engineering Inspector to oversee construction efforts of varying sizes and complexities.
David continues to be driven by the opportunity to shape safe, functional, and sustainable communities. Outside of work, David enjoys experiencing all of the outdoor opportunities that the Pikes Peak Region and the State of Colorado have to offer.
Alyssa Cumbie
Alyssa grew up in southwest Florida having parents who worked in the construction industry. She spent her summers working for her father on construction job sites and then attended college at Florida State University. After graduating with an Environmental Science degree, Alyssa and her husband moved to Texas, Virginia, and eventually they decided to make Colorado their home.
Alyssa switched from logistics into the stormwater industry in 2019. The transition into stormwater combined her love of the environment with her early roots in construction. Over the last 7 years, she has focused her career on building in-person relationships while bridging the gap between contractors and the various regulatory agencies. After having worked in the private sector and then in the public sector for El Paso County, Colorado, as an engineering inspector, Alyssa has developed a unique specialty of ensuring that complex jobsites meet environmental mandates and adopted engineering standards. Alyssa excels at conducting thorough site audits, identifying potential compliance risks before they become costly violations, and navigating state and local environmental permits. Her experience in horizontal construction provides additional knowledge of grading, drainage systems, and soil mechanics; all critical elements in the implementation of effective erosion and sediment control plans and managing stormwater management plans.
Alyssa is passionate about protecting local waterways while maintaining the momentum of developments and associated vital infrastructure projects. She plans to continue shaping safe, sustainable, communities in the Pikes Peak Region through her unique blend of in-the-field expertise. In her free time, Alyssa loves to stay active, dive into a project, and travel the world with loved ones.

Vertex was born out of the realization that development could be done better with greater customer service, efficiency, and attention to detail. We offer an insider's perspective on the land entitlement process while leveraging an extensive network of industry professionals to plan for and address the various aspects and challenges that are inevitable in land development. Our staff takes pride in anticipating the needs of our clients, as well as the requirements of the federal, state, and local permitting authorities.
